Wilson Custom Composites are building new Panthers for P1 Superstock US

John Moore on 6th February 2018

Powerboat P1’s entire fleet of Panther race boats are undergoing hull replacements.

The work is being carried out by specialist boat builders, Wilson Custom Composites, whose owner, Craig Wilson has over 19 years of racing experience.

Wilson said:

The new P1 hulls are being built with a very advanced infusion system.
The system, foam core and custom blend resins are ground breaking in the marine industry. The strengths we are achieving along with almost 800lbs weight loss just in the hull, is unheard of.

P1 chief executive, Azam Rangoonwala said:

The addition of these new hulls alongside the 300XS Mercury Racing engines will implement the use of cutting edge technology and materials to provide the most level playing field in powerboat racing.

Once the hulls have been completed, the boats will make their journey to Kinetic Animation based in Bradenton, Florida where longtime offshore powerboat racer Ryan Beckley will apply the boat graphics.

The upgrade process began in November and will be completed by the end of February 2018 in time for the official start of the P1 SuperStock USA race series which is now in its eighth season.
