What’s Happening with XCAT Racing?

John Moore on 8th October 2019

We are nearly halfway through October and only 2 races have been contested for the 2019 UIM XCAT World Championship.

Both happened back in July on Italy’s Lake Maggiore, Shaun Torrente and Faleh Al Mansoori were victorious in the 2 races and lead the championship with 70 points.

When a provisional calendar for the World Championship was announced by the UIM in February, it certainly looked promising for the forthcoming season:

Yanbu Saudi Arabia / 13 – 15 March (To be confirmed)
Venue TBA Italy / 28 – 30 June (To be confirmed)
Venue TBA TBA / 19 – 21 July (To be confirmed)
Shanghai China / 13 – 15 September (To be confirmed)
Hangzhou China / 20 – 22 September (To be confirmed)
Venue TBA China / 25 – 27 October (To be confirmed)
Dubai UAE / 05 – 12 December (To be confirmed)

As the official web site for the series hasn’t been updated in a while (https://x-cat.racing/ ), you have to turn to the UIM site to see the latest calendar:

Stresa / 19 – 21 July
Shanghai / 01 – 03 November
Dubai UAE / 12– 14 December (To be confirmed)

Potentially, the series could be down to 6 races, or even 4 if the Dubai event doesn’t happen.

Without stating the obvious, that seems very sad.
