Weckstrom steps-up to F1H20

John Moore on 14th April 2021

Alec Weckstrom has been officially named as the replacement for Alex Carella in the F1H2o Gillman Racing team.

Weckstrom who took the silver medal in last season’s UIM F4 World Championship in Viverone, Italy told F1H20:

I’m so excited about moving up to F1 and work with four-time World Champion Scott Gillman whom I know is a true legend in the sport.

It’s truly a learning curve, but also having many time North American champion Greg Foster as my teammate, between Scott and Greg there are over 12 F1 titles earned so I couldn’t ask for a better set of teachers in my upcoming rookie season.

His father Michael raced in the top series in 2002 and 2003 and commented on the news:

I feel this three year program is just perfect for Alec.

He will be with a team of winners and past champions and this should get him into the right frame of mine at the start of his career.

I’m so proud of what Alec has been able to accomplish in such a short time and I know he’s been dreaming of this since he was eight years old.

He’s determined to find success in the sport but it will take time.

As a family, we are totally ‘over the moon’ with excitement.
