Victory top the practice times in a windy Dubai

John Moore on 12th December 2019

Victory Team’s Salem Al Adidi and Eisa Al Ali made their return to racing in XCAT with a quickest lap in the second official practice session in a wind swept Dubai today.

Their average speed of 61.028 mph showed just how bumpy it was and the defending champions, Shaun Torrente and Faleh Al Mansoori, decided to sit-out the second session after setting the third fastest lap in the first official practice session.

The Italian pairing of Roberto Lo Piano and Maurizio Carando pushed De Mitri to a second quickest lap time, carding a 60.15 mph average.

Al Mansoori told Tony Lewis after the practice:

It was very rough out there, very windy with some big waves, but both our boats are stable.

We have a good set-up and we pushed today and found that everything was good for us, so we are ready.

Everything depends on the weather tomorrow.

We’re hearing from the weather guys that the sea will be flat, and if that’s the case we’ll change the set-up for sure because today we were set-up for rough water.

We’ll decide tomorrow about half an hour before the pole position race.
