Following the introduction of the Powerboat Racing Industry Awards last year, recognising contributions of industry partners to the sport, nominations are now open for 2016.
RYA Powerboat Racing Manager, Jeni Jelf commented on the awards;
At the annual RYA Powerboat Racing Awards evening, competitors victories are celebrated.
Until last year there was very little opportunity to recognise those companies and organisations who contribute to the sport’s success in other ways.
Consequently we introduced the Powerboat Racing Industry Awards and are delighted to open the nominations for 2016.
Nominations are being sort for the following categories;
· Leading contribution to powerboat racing from a marine industry supplier (safety / technology)
· Leading sponsorship of a powerboat racing team
· Leading contribution from a host venue
Last year Daisy Coleman nominated her sponsors Pertemps Network. Her nomination resonated with the judging panel as to how much the sponsorship meant to her and the team, and how their support had made such a difference, not only on the water but in enabling her to follow her passion and build her confidence.
Scarborough Borough Council were nominated by Powerboat P1 and beat off competition from Hull Marina, Stewartby Watersports Club and Visit Wales to win in the host venue category.
The judges were impressed by how the Borough Council wholeheartedly embraced the event and the effort that went in to maximising engagement for the event from the local community, key stakeholders and the media.
We were delighted with the calibre of the entries we received last year and we look forward to receiving even more this year.
It continues to show how valued the work and contribution from these organisations and companies is to the sport of powerboat racing.
Further information on the categories and criteria to enter can be found on the RYA website.
RYA Licence Holders or affiliated clubs are encouraged to submit their nominations by the 1st of December to the RYA Powerboat Racing Department.
An independent judging panel will consider all nominations and the winners will be announced at the RYA Powerboat Racing Awards evening on the 4th of February 2017.
