ThunderCat Racing joins UKOPRA

John Moore on 29th March 2021

The United Kingdom Offshore Powerboat Racing Association (UKOPRA) have confirmed that the rough and tough ThunderCat Racing series will be competing under their umbrella for the 2021 season.

UKOPRA chairman, Kerry Bobin announced the news on social media last night:

We have been in discussions for some time with a number of promoters and classes that wish us to afford racing for single class multiple short laps with close quarters racing outside of the constraints imposed for Offshore Racing when racing in open waters.

He continued:

We are extremely pleased to announce that the first class to take advantage of this is the ThunderCat that has recently become an official UKOPRA class.

ThunderCat Racing is organised by Fiona Pascoe’s M2M Racing company and this season she has put together six weekends of racing in the south of England.

Two of those events, Poole and Yarmouth, will double up with UKOPRA’s offshore races and there are expected to be over 20 entries into the 50hp Tohatsu powered inflatable series.
