Szymura will test for Gordon Cook Racing

John Moore on 13th March 2019

Mike Szymura has today confirmed that he will be testing with Gordon Cook Racing with a view to competing in this year’s UIM F2 World Championship.

Szymura from Berlin in Germany has been racing since 2008 and he dominated the H2o F4-s series in 2013 -2015, winning 10 races and a hat-trick of championships.

The 25-year-old moved up to F1H2o in 2016 when he signed with Emirates Racing and became Marit Strømøy’s team-mate.

In his first season in the top Formula class, Szymura scored points in 4 of the 7 races, however, his second season in 2017 only produced one finish, a seventh place in China.

Due to finances, the German pilot was unable to race last year and he had to take an enforced sabbatical.

Team Manager Gordon Cook told me:

It’s great to be able to give Mike a test at Wyboston Lakes in our UIM F2 Baba hull at the end of this month.

Once Mike has got the test under his belt, we can talk about the possibilities of racing together this season.
