Strong southerly winds and an outgoing tide made conditions too dangerous for UIM F1 H2o BRM qualifying in Portimão today.

H2O Race officials made the decision to postpone the session until tomorrow morning for the second time in the space of three weeks.

UIM safely commissioner Luis Ribeiro said,

The conditions were getting worse with the wind and the effect of the flow of the river. This form of racing is a dangerous sport and safety in always of paramount importance. This was the obvious decision to take, because the forecast was not good and we were already running later than scheduled.

Teams were permitted free practice on Saturday morning.

Erik Stark of the Emirates Racing Team had been quickest in the practice session with a best lap of 44.58sec.
