San Germano recovering from COVID-19

John Moore on 4th April 2021

UIM F1H20 promoter, Nicolò Di San Germano, is currently in a Switzerland hospital recovering from COVID-19.

The Italian had been extremely ill with the virus but woke up on Friday afternoon and is said to be in good shape all things considered.

He is expected to stay in hospital for a few more days as he makes his recovery.

In 1993 the UIM appointed San Germano as promoter of the flagship powerboat racing series and his events that have been staged all round the world have attracted a global sporting audience.

Not only has the 73 year old Italian overseen the Formula 1 series, he has also been the driving force behind F4-S, Aquabike and the Nations Cup and had a brief spell of heading-up UIM Class One offshore racing.

The 2020 F1H20 World Championship was cancelled due to the global health crisis with the majority of this season’s events still to be confirmed due to the ongoing situation.
