The Trophy – 2016 Best Newcomer – Offshore
Josh Broadbent and Sebastian Watts made a big impact in their first season of UK ThunderCat Racing.
In their first race at Bournemouth last April, the pair claimed an impressive sixth place, by October, Broadbent and Watts were standing on the podium in Gibraltar.
Josh Broadbent is a student at Loughborough University studying Construction Management while Sebastian Watts is aerospace engineering at Bristol and comes from a powerboat racing family.
His father, Alastair and uncle were UIM Class 3C World Champions in 1995.
Uncle, Jeremy Watts runs Ice Marine in Warsash on the river Hamble, designing and building high performance powerboats.
Sebastian Watts commented;
We’ve had a fantastic year and this award is a massive shock to both of us. Everyone in the ThunderCat Family have made us so welcome it’s an honour and privilege to race with them, bring on 2017.

John raced Offshore UIM Class 3 in the 1980’s & 1990’s.
He served as the Cowes Torquay Cowes Event Director for 4 years, including running the 50 th Anniversary Event in 2010.
He has recently organised 4 British Offshore races under UKOPRA sanction.
He is the Editor of Powerboat Racing World.
