Another item of business that was announced at the UIM council meeting was the,’Re-launch of the UIM XCAT World Championship’.

A new company will be formed by the UIM, the Offshore Powerboat Teams Association (OPTA) and a media and marketing partner which will be called, World Powerboat Management (WPM).

WPM will now run the 2020 world championship and has already started to work on the safety protocols which will be applied at the venues due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

There was no mention of where those venues will be in the UIM press release, which is interesting, as the series has relied heavily on China in the last couple of seasons.
