pit_plusKeith Whittle the Managing Director of Powertech Marine has been racing since 1977.

He holds the UIM F2 World Speed Record at 132 mph and has won many championships as a driver and engineer.

Recently he recruited John Donnelly to work with him at Powertech, Donnelly’s racing experience has been in the Honda Series and a very successful stint in Powerboat P1.

His company based in Hayling Island have decided to form ‘Pit Plus’, an initiative that is looking to help ‘would be’ racers enter the various disciplines of powerboat racing.

Although ‘Pit Plus’ will not be concentrating on Circuit Racing exclusively, Powertech Marine’s manager, John Donnelly told me this morning;

We have 4 x GT 15 / 30 boats to use for potential competitors to try out. The aim then is that if they like it, we will take them through the hoops and over the hurdles of finally getting to the start line.
‘Pit Plus’ will also be running a F4 team in Powerboat GP.

Jason Brewer the promoter of Powerboat GP was enthusiastic about the announcement;

It’s good to see ‘Pit Plus’ helping to attract people into the sport and develop our existing classes.
Other forms of motor sport have ‘arrive and drive’ packages and the similar solution from ‘Pit Plus’ should prove very popular.

Donnelly expanded on that,

We can supply ‘turn key’ packages right down to advice and support. We are even looking for a lake testing facility in the south of England, which is Keith’s dream.
