Carpisa Yamamay look to repeat Dubai heroics at second round of XCAT Series

Alfredo Amato will be returning to Dubai with relish this weekend for the second round of the UIM XCAT World Powerboating Series. The Italian topped the podium the last time the Series stopped in Dubai – at the end of 2015 – and will be hoping for a similar result when racing gets underway from April 15-16 at Dubai International Marine Club. Amato has teamed up with a new driver in Diego Testa in the Carpisa Yamamay boat and while they finished in fifth spot at the opening round of the season in Fujairah last weekend, they’re aiming higher in Dubai. “After just one day of testing we got the third best time in free practice last weekend, then in the race we gained five positions. The calendar is such this year that there are just eight days between the first two Grand Prix in Fujairah and Dubai and team technicians have been working long hours to ensure that both Team Abu Dhabi 4 and 5 are ready for the first of the practice sessions in Dubai…

Lynsay Crellin, whose CV in ThunderCat racing ranks favourably alongside male competitors in this ‘Extreme Sport’, will head up the fledgling outfit as ‘Team Manager’ and ‘Mentor’ to a ‘rookie crew’ that has been selected by former offshore powerboat racer, Sarah Donohue. Sarah, who oversees the Miss Galaxy Universe contest, a fitness show based around performance and functionality, has chosen contestants Jo Foxx and Ria Pandey to race for the team. Both Jo and Ria have gone through the extensive ThunderCat training to enable their 2016 licences, although for…
