Victory Team’s Al-Zafeen and Bin Hendi beat Dubai 33 in Dubai Duty Free Speed Cat Run final

After clinching a sensational second position behind Victory Team in Friday afternoon’s rescheduled Dubai Grand Prix, the Team Abu Dhabi’s 5 crew of Faleh Al-Mansoori and Rashed Al-Tayer were thrown headlong into Dubai Duty Free Speed Cat Run action on Saturday at the Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC). The luck of the draw worked against both teams on this occasion and they were pitted together in the first of the heats instead of what could so easily have been the final. Victory Team’s Arif Saif Al-Zafeen and Nadir bin Hendi prevailed in the heat and went on to beat Dubai 33’s Salem Al-Adidi and Eisa Al-Ali in a thrilling all-local final. T-Bone Station’s Giovanni Carpitella and Marco Pennesi comfortably won the third-placed play-off against Team Australia’s Pal-Virik Nilsen and Brett Luhrmann. “It wasn’t meant to be today, but that’s the…

Double Dubai delight for Victory XCAT Team

Another week, another win for the Victory Team. Arif Al Zaffain and Nadir bin Hendi continued their dominance of the 2016 UIM XCAT World Series with victory at the second round – the Dubai GP this afternoon. While they didn’t head to the front from the start, an almost perfect long lap strategy saw the pair taking the lead in the ninth lap and eventually powering to a 17-second win over secondplaced Abu Dhabi Team 5. It had been Abu Dhabi 5’s Rashed Al Tayer and Faleh Al Mansoori who powered into the lead after a sensational start from the second gate. But the duo just couldn’t build up enough of a lead to keep in front of the high-flying Victory Team who simply blew any opposition away. The battle for third spot was eventually where all the action was…

Extra pressure for the XCAT Victory Team in Dubai

The pressure will be on when Arif Al Zaffain and Nadir bin Hendi return to racing in Dubai this weekend. The Victory Team duo already lead the Series going into the second round of the UIM XCAT World Series at Dubai International Marine Club from April 15-16, but there are always a few extra nerves making their presence felt when they’re in front of a home crowd. “Always the pressure is on because everyone expects a lot from you there so we’ll hopefully perform to their expectations and be number one again,” said Bin Hendi, who together with Al Zaffain powered to a comfortable victory in the opening round of the 2016 season in Fujairah last weekend. The pair are all too aware of the challenge they’re up against, however, with a strong showing from Gold Coast.Australia (Tom Barry-Cotter and…
