Sundsdal launches EDH Racing UIM F2 Team

It’s been nearly three years since Frode Sundsdal last competed on the international powerboat race scene, when he teamed up with Rupp Temper at the UIM F2 European Championships. Now the man from Arendal in Norway, who lives just along the coastline in Tønsberg, thinks it’s the perfect time to return to the UIM F2 World Championship with EDH Racing. Sundsdal commenting on 2016, Yes, Formula Two is going to be very tough this year. With the likes of the F1 star’s Selio and Carella racing alongside the already established F2 drivers like Lundin and Palfreyman, getting anywhere near the podium won’t be easy. So if you want to challenge yourself as a racer then this is the season to do it. Like many Scandinavian drivers Sundsdal started racing in the Junior T250 monohull class when aged fifteen. Australia’s best V8 Superboat drivers will be back at Allcott Hire Park in Temora this weekend to do battle in the third round of the Australian Championships. A big local crowd is expected to see some more intense action under lights, in a return of the battle for the top of the timesheets they’d witnessed just four weeks ago. Then – three-time Australian Unlimited Superboat champion – Phonsy Mullan wowed the fans with an impressive run late in the night, although the man they all aim to beat had to work perhaps harder than he had at any point in the last 12 months to eke out victory, with some solid challenges coming across the single-day event. Scarborough gets the UK race season off to a flying start

Scarborough served up a weekend of mighty, rolling waves that made surfers smile and powerboat and jet ski racers frown. With the safety of competitors being the primary concern, Saturday’s race programme was almost entirely abandoned and it was by no means certain that the fierce northerly wind and huge swell would die down sufficiently to allow Sunday’s racing to go ahead. But the wild North Sea calmed a little and the P1 fleet of ten race boats and twenty jet ski riders prepared to do battle in the Dale Power Solutions P1 Yorkshire Grand Prix of the Sea. The P1 SuperStock schedule was extended to three races and the punishing conditions took their toll in the opening race with three boats becoming casualties. It was a baptism of fire for the many new faces in the starting line-up, with…

OCRDA paves the way

The winter months have been spent by Bob McCarthy listening to racers, both new and old, and the result was 20 OCR boats turning out to Torquay this weekend with some stunning racing action not seen for over a decade. Bob has invested his time and energy in many new trainees and they teamed up with some seasoned old hands to create the fleet. Some last minute prepared boats not making it past the first turn buoy meant a slightly diminished fleet of sixteen coming into the harbour turn, appreciated though by Peter Butler on commentary who was struggling to keep up all the new faces. Peter’s knowledge and ability was appreciated by the crowds that gathered to watch. Race 1 was convincingly won by Jeremy Gibson in group 1 with Graham Lawton chasing him all the way. Graham recognising…
