Selio takes F1H2o Portugal Pole

UIM F1H2o BRM Qualifying on the Arade River was rescheduled for Sunday morning in place of free practice and was split into two sessions for the second time in three weeks. Race officials arranged to run Q1 over 20 minutes to eliminate seven of the 19 boats and, after a 10-minute break, Q2 ran for 30 minutes to determine the top six for pole position points. Weather conditions were more favourable on the 1.937km course on Sunday and Chiappe made his intentions clear from the outset with an opening lap of 43.67 seconds in clear water conditions. Strong winds and adverse tides forces UIM F1 H2o BRM Qualifying to be postponed until Sunday

Strong southerly winds and an outgoing tide made conditions too dangerous for UIM F1 H2o BRM qualifying in Portimão today. H2O Race officials made the decision to postpone the session until tomorrow morning for the second time in the space of three weeks. UIM safely commissioner Luis Ribeiro said, The conditions were getting worse with the wind and the effect of the flow of the river. This form of racing is a dangerous sport and safety in always of paramount importance. This was the obvious decision to take, because the forecast was not good and we were already running later than scheduled. Teams were permitted free practice on Saturday morning. Erik Stark of the Emirates Racing Team had been quickest in the practice session with a best lap of 44.58sec.

Al-Qamzi takes a five-point outright lead in the UIM F-4S Trophy

Team Abu Dhabi’s Rashed Al-Qamzi snatched a five-point outright lead in the UIM F-4S Trophy by winning the opening race in boat 56 at the Grand Prix of Portugal, on the Arade River in Portimão, on Saturday. The Emirati led for all but one of the 20 laps to claim his second series win by 19.39 seconds from Dutch rival Ferdinand Zandbergen. Al-Qamzi trailed Kalle Viippo on the opening tour of the course, but an early yellow flag slowed the field and the Team Abu Dhabi driver snatched the lead and went on to win. In a press conference held yesterday, the organisers of the UIM F2 Tønsberg Båtrace announced their pre race entry list for round 4 of the UIM F2 World Championship. The press conference was hosted by the Mayor of Tønsberg, Petter Berg together with the Habour master Per Svennar, event partners and the organising team. Mayor Berg stated that, he will continue to Support Tønsberg Boatrace and spoke about the positive financial benefit the Event had on the city. Team Abu Dhabi enters 2 UIM F2 boats at Tønsberg

Team Abu Dhabi continues its exciting summer tour of major European power boating events after deciding to enter two drivers in the forthcoming Norwegian round of the UIM F2 World Championship in Tønsberg on August 5-7. Emirati drivers Rashed Al-Qamzi and Mohammed Al-Mehairbi have been entered in the fourth round of the prestigious series at the helm of Team Abu Dhabi 35 and 36.
