P1 SuperStock expands its horizons

John Moore on 23rd January 2017

The organisers of the P1 SuperStock UK Championship have confirmed 4 of their race venues for 2017.

With 3 of those to be held in England, Scotland and Wales, (Scarborough, Greenock and Milford Haven) it’s interesting to see a trip to Denmark on the calendar, the first race in June for the P1 SuperStock teams will be the city of Aalborg.

Roy Mantle from P1 told me this afternoon;

This is a great opportunity to ‘showcase’ our Championship in Scandinavia for the first time.
Our chief operating officer Robert Wicks feels that the opportunity to expand the series to take in a round in mainland Europe is a very positive step forward for the series.

Aaalborg Mayor, Thomas Kastrup-Larsen is also upbeat;

Hosting a P1 event provides us with a wonderful opportunity to present Aaalborg as a cultural and vibrant event city, with the powerboat racing taking place in a beautiful setting.
We are proud to be the first P1 host city in Denmark and I’m sure the people of Aalborg will welcome an event of this calibre and turn out in strength to watch all the action.

With the P1 SuperStock UK Championship calendar dates in place, I asked Roy Mantle about the proposed racing in Mumbai, India.

James Durbin (P1 CEO) and Robert Wicks will be making an official statement from Mumbai on the 2nd of February.
P1 Panther’s are being shipped from the UK and US for racing in India over the March 3rd – 5th weekend with International drivers piloting the boats in a ‘one off’ Championship.

It’s looking fairly exciting for P1 SuperStock, their competitors and fans this year as the series continues to expand.
