Johansen and Braaten aim for 3D gold

John Moore on 6th September 2020

Erik Sundblad Johansen and Jan Trygve Braaten have teamed-up to race a former XCAT hull.

The Norwegians who have both won the world championship in the UIM offshore Class 3C, took delivery of the Team Extreme Marine boat in Larvik yesterday.

The boat that was designed, built and raced by Rashid Al Marri won the XCAT World and Middle East championship back in 2010, since then the rig has been in Dubai.

Frode Sundsdal who organised the shipping from the UAE to Norway told me:

When the boat was racing in XCAT, you always had to bet on Rashid ending up on the podium.

Johansen and Braaten have today ran the boat with its original Mercury 2.5 EFI Offshore V6 motors, however, the aim for team is more Class 3 gold medals and that involves a crack at the 2021 UIM 3D World Championship!
