Races 3 and 4 of the 2017 Stanley Gibbons Investment Race Series get underway this weekend with 10 teams signed up to take part in the North Beach Outer Course.

After the first event was a wash out, teams are raring to go for this event.

In Class 3 there are a total of 5 entrants

This Class are using the 2017 Race Season to gain experience for the up and coming UIM Class 3A and B World Championships in September.

Paul Etasse will be reunited with navigator Chris Stonebridge in A-61 Slayer, the pairing narrowly missed out on the 3A World title last year and will be using this event to hone their Phantom 19g in the pursuit of a 2017 Gold Medal.

Gareth Keast and Quentin Petit in A-92 The Governor were off to a great start last event, they were closely following Slayer until the weather stopped play. They are a newly paired team but are already showing great competitiveness and a drive for podium places.

Another entry in Class 3 is Chris Bates and Jon Le Page in B-22 Bad Influence. Since stripping and rebuilding the entire rig this team have proved it was the right decision to make. They are consistently seeing great improvement and speeds and have modestly set their goals for the World Championship at finishing the three races.

B-88 Dirty Deeds is crewed by Sue Cosgrave and Jai Rive for this event. Sue is having a go at driving for the second time since purchasing the Hull. This team will be using this event as valuable experience and gathering set up for September.

The final entrant in Class 3 is John Richardson and Nathan Ward in Easy Emily 2. This crew have recently been running their new engine in preparation for the race series, Easy Emily 2 is a Phantom 19g, the newest rig to the Island. They will be trying to find the perfect set up before the Worlds.

2 entrants in Z Class

Z-27 Dewpacabra Patrick and Phil Dewe got off to a great start last event way up the field, it looked set to be a great race for the pair until weather came in, destroying any hope of finishing.

Katie Sauvarin has teamed up with Kirsty Savident for this Event in Z-38, a Phantom 19. Weather conditions look to be perfect for this team so they are hoping to be up at the front with more teams that have the same type of hull.

Combined Club Class 1 and 2

In this class, newbies James Roussel paired with Jamie Marquand will compete in 1-116 The Flying Dutchman. This will be the first full event for this team and now they have fixed the minor gremlins with their engine, they are hoping for competitive racing with the other two entries in this class.

1-86 Jubbly, driven by Hugh Donnelly and Navigator Matt Kershaw is the second participant in this class. Hugh and Matt were leading the pack in the last event when the race was stopped, they have certainly been the one to watch so far. This team are hoping to carry their winning streak on for the foreseeable future.

Hot on the heels of the Cat will be Andrew Marshman and Pierre Petit in 2-209 Warpath. Andrew has not competed in many races so far but he has shown great skill and determination with what we have seen of him so far. Partnered with Pierre Petit for this event he is hoping to snatch that podium place from the other two teams in this class.

The Course for this weekend is North Beach Outer, Parade laps are – Saturday 11.30 Sunday 12.00

The best places to watch are from the East Arm – North Beach and the Castle Breakwater
