FOX Sports Sun has extended its broadcast deal with the world’s largest marine motorsport brand, Powerboat P1 for a further 2 years.
The regional sports network will broadcast the entire 24-race P1 AquaX Pro Tour and the 20-race P1 SuperStock USA series from May through to November. The deal allows other FOX Sports regional networks to broadcast the P1 AquaX programs providing a near national coverage and a 60 million household reach.
This is the latest chapter in a story of increasing international TV distribution for P1, and chief executive James Durbin explained: “We have seen significant growth in our broadcast coverage, both with our linear channel partners like FOX Sports and our own digital channels. Our broadcast partners, led by FOX Sports in the USA, are integral to our success and we are delighted to continue our relationship beyond 5 years.”
Tim Ivy, VP Marketing & Programming at FOX Sports Sun commented: “We are delighted to continue airing a double bill of powerboat and jet-ski action from P1. The high quality production together with the high octane action provides a great show for our audiences”
Through a combination of higher audiences, improved global distribution and an increased number of races, P1’s international broadcast value over the last three years has more than quadrupled according to evaluation company Repucom.
Powerboat P1 programmes are broadcast in more than 100 countries that includes deals with FOX Sports Europe, Africa and Asia.
Durbin added: “Our broadcast partners at an international, national and regional level are crucially important to the success of our business as we move towards the goal of a P1 world championship, and the recent 2-year extension with FOX Sports Sun is another important milestone in our international growth, which will provide greater broadcast certainty for our venues, racers and sponsors.”
P1 AquaX Daytona will air on FOX Sports Sun on Friday May 6 at 2:30pm and again at 7pm
P1 SuperStock Tavares will air on FOX Sports Sun on Friday May 6 at 6pm
