Fortitudo Property Poole Bay 100 – British Offshore

John Moore on 10th May 2018

The Fortitudo Property Poole Bay 100, due to be held on the 10th of June next month, will herald the start of a 3 venue Offshore Racing series in Britain this year.

As the event title suggests, the racing will be held in Poole Bay where Marathon Classes will tackle a 121 nm course whilst the smaller Class 3 boats will compete over 71.4 nm.

Entries opened on the first of this month and already the organisers have attracted 7 Marathon and 10 Class 3 sign-ups.

This Event, with the Falmouth Marathon Regatta and the historic Cowes Torquay Cowes in this 2018 series, will be running under the recently formed United Kingdom Offshore Powerboat Racing Association (UKOPRA).

UKOPRA have published racing rules and issued licences and boat registrations.

The Fortitudo Property Poole Bay 100 will be using Salterns Marina as the wet pit facility and boats such as Drew Langdon’s Mercury Racing powered Outerlimits hull, Silverline, (above) will be mooring up on the afternoon of Saturday the 9th of June.

The 2 races are due to start at 12.00 noon and 12.15 on the Sunday due south of Bournemouth Pier.
