Fatality at OPA Point Pleasant Beach Race

One person was killed and three were injured at the Offshore Powerboat Association (OPA) race at Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, reports NJ.com.

Point Beach mayor Stephen Reid said that Smith Brothers CRC, was airborne when it came down on top of Repeat Offender a 27′ Magnum.

Reid identified the man killed in the accident as David Raabe, Repeat Offender’s throttle man and veteran offshore racer.

Reid said that the transom of the Smith Brothers CRC was ripped off in the collision and sank. The two on board, brothers Rich and Pete Smith, were thrown clear and subsequently rescued.
