Dorian Griffith has had an extremely good year

With mechanical failures various over many seasons, the Estate Agent from Watlington in Oxfordshire told me today,

‘Coming second overall in the 2016 Cowes Torquay Cowes race has changed everything’.

‘I finally found a great team of people to not only engineer my boat but to race with me.

Shelley Jory-Leigh is an exceptional and brave driver; I call her my ‘Powerboat Racing Wife! I was simply amazed with her determination as we battled through huge seas on the way back to Cowes this year.

Will Stevens is my other crew mate, you just won’t meet a nicer guy’.

Griffith is taking his Yanmar powered 38’ Fountain to Lake Coniston next week.

‘We established a UM Marathon Class C record at 83.49 mph last year, I am fairly confident we can hit the magic 90 with our diesel power’.

Griffith broke off our telephone call, ‘I must sell another house to pay for all of this’!
