Dillard will race for the Comparato UIM F2 Team in 2019

Chris Davies on 7th December 2018

It’s been just three months since the final round of the UIM F2 Powerboat World Championship and already preparations are well underway for several drivers for the 2019 racing season.

News broke earlier this week that the reigning World Champion, Alberto Comparato has made the move to race alongside Duarte Benavente in the F1H20 series, but it probably won’t be the last time we see the young Italian racer in the F2 pits as today he announced that the American driver Brent Dillard has signed to race for Comparato F2.

Dillard told me from the UAE:

First off, I want to thank the Lundin Family for everything they did.

I am really looking forward to teaming up with Alberto and his father Fabio.

I really believe the way Alberto trains and how many test laps they do in the off season will benefit me tremendously. I have to thank my family and Dillard Financial Solutions for making this all possible.

As to whether Brent would campaign the Moore hull, he used to good effect throughout the 2018 season, that is still to be decided.

I’m going to get the chance to test both the Moore and the DAC, so whichever feels more comfortable will be the one we go with.

The official announcement was made in Abu Dhabi where both Dillard and Comparato, along with several other F2 racers are watching the penultimate round of the F1H2O series.

The 2018 UIM F2 World Champion explained:

I’m really happy to have Brent in our team, we start to test as soon as possible, we just can’t wait to start to work with Brent and Steve.
