Derrick Mortimore has passed away

Derrick Mortimore who won the 1985 UIM Class 3B world championship has passed away, he was 84.

Mortimore from Kent won the title in Guernsey with his daughter Kay Jordan navigating.

The pair who were racing a Yamaha powered wooden Stapley mono hull won the championship after after out navigating the local favourites.

Mortimore was a well respected and liked competitor who competed in both offshore Classes 3 and 4 during the 1980’s.

He even competed in both classes on the same day at some race venues.

Mortimore died after a short illness which was not COVID-19 related.
