Critics give Travolta’s ‘Speed Kills’ Thumbs Down

John Travolta stars in Speed Kills, he plays Ben Aronoff, a thinly-veiled version of Cigarette founder Don Aronow, it opens in US theatres and is available digitally tomorrow (November 16th).

A selection of US Film Critics have had a chance to watch the ‘Screener’ before the official release and according to the leading online aggregator of movies, Rotten Tomatoes, the 17% approval rating doesn’t bode well for ‘true-ish crime flick’.

John DeFore for the Hollywood Reporter:

“Kills” careers, that is.

Noel Murray at the Los Angeles Times:

A featureless knockoff of seemingly every sweeping true-crime movie of the past three decades.

Sean Burns for New England Movies Weekly:

In any other year, Speed Kills would easily be the most laughably incompetent gangster movie starring John Travolta.

It’s fair to say that the critics that judge action movies these days have a certain ‘Liberal Bias’ and that the Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score can give a far better indication of the film’s merits or otherwise.

Those results will be known over the next week or so.
