In past years I have had readers come up to me at international events who tell me that they made the trip overseas to watch a race because of the event preview on this site and that is great, but this year check before you book!
This season has of course proved to be an absolute disaster for organisers, competitors and spectators and we are all looking forward to seeing some action somewhere this year.
However, before you book any flights or hotels, check on the status of the event and more importantly how a particular country is currently dealing with the virus.
This morning I posted an article about the two UIM F2 World Championship races in Portugal which are slated to happen in early September.
This afternoon it was announced that Britain is to maintain its travel ban on Portugal, forcing UK travellers to quarantine for 14 days on their return.
There were further concerns that France is considering closing its border with Spain amid fears of tourists bringing home infection and that would scupper all competitors towing their boats to Portugal.
Let’s keep hoping for the best and perhaps make a last minute decision on whether to travel.
Just an hour after writing this article, Norway re-imposed a 10-day quarantine requirement for people arriving from Spain after a surge in COVID-19 cases there.
