2016 ThunderCat Racing Title challenge could be decided in Gibraltar

Rounds 11 and 12 of the Microlink ThunderCat Championship will be held this weekend at Catalan Bay in Gibraltar and the event could decide the 2016 title winners. Microlink-Ahmad Tea from Wales, Rob Davies and Darren Phillips, hold a slender 10 point lead over Multispark Racing 61, Gary Tolman and Scott Brown, in the Team Championship. Martin Tummuscheit who looks after the Microlink-Ahmad Tea team has turned 2015 rookies Davies and Phillips into 2016 Championship leaders; We need to stay focused and keep our consistency. It’s certainly going to be interesting! Multispark Racing Team Manager Dave Sheldon told me today; Even though we are behind in points, Gary has good experience of racing here, he was very competitive in 2014 where he came third in the European Championship held just up the beach from Catalan Bay. Figueras and Perez return to ThunderCat Racing Action

Leslie Figueras and Albert Perez from Gibraltar successfully competed in the 2014 British National ThunderCat Championship and capped that year off nicely with a European Championship win. Figueras commented; We would have loved to continue racing in Britain but just didn’t have the finance to make the trips over there and race our ThunderCat. With Rounds 11 and 12 of the 2016 Microlink ThunderCat Championship to be held this weekend at Catalan Bay in Gibraltar, it gives Figueras and Perez the perfect opportunity for a return to action. ThunderCat Racing at Watergate Bay cancelled this weekend

Due to a high wind forecast, ThunderCat Racing organisers have been forced to postpone the Watergate Bay event this weekend. 19th and 20th of November 2016 are the new dates for this fixture. Wow! Watergate’s Weather is looking fierce

Rounds 11 and 12 of the 2016 Microlink ThunderCat Championship – Watergate Bay Nineteen ThunderCat teams have entered this weekend’s battle against the surf at Watergate Bay, Newquay in Cornwall. The weather forecast of strong winds throughout the Event is the highest priority on the Organisers minds. UK ThunderCat Racing’s Fiona Pascoe told me today; We are monitoring the weather closely. Our competitors love the surf events and we will do everything possible to put on safe racing at Watergate Bay. If the weather looks interesting, the entry list is even more so. ThunderCat Racing at Clevedon Pier

Rounds 9 and 10 of the 2016 Microlink ThunderCat Championship were held at Clevedon in Somerset last weekend. The town of Clevedon was a new venue on the ThunderCat calendar and it certainly delivered; exciting racing with large enthusiastic crowds there to watch the racing action. The racing comprised of four 30 minute ‘Enduro’ races which were held over the weekend. Round 9 The two races held on the Saturday counted for Round 9 of the Championship. Microlink / Ahmad Tea crewed by the Welsh Duo of Rob Davies and Darren Phillips took the overall round win with a first and second place. The 2016 Championship leaders have really mastered the ‘Enduro’ discipline, having dominated earlier in the season at Liverpool. Clevedon Pier – ThunderCat Enduro honours shared

Multispark Racing #33 won the first of two ThunderCat Enduro races held at Clevedon today. Conditions changed dramatically for the second race with no wind and a calm sea and Microlink / Ahmed Tea took advantage and won convincingly. ThunderCat Racing UK – National Diversity Awards finalist

ThunderCat Racing UK is one of the finalists at the National Diversity Awards 2016 – ‘Community Organisation Award for Multi-Strand’, with its Recovery through Sports program. The Best of British Diversity will travel to Liverpool to celebrate the outstanding achievements of those who have demonstrated their devotion to enhancing equality, diversity and inclusion in today’s society on September 16th. ThunderCat Racing moves on to Clevedon for the next rounds of the 2016 Microlink Championship

The ever popular UK ThunderCat Racing series moves on to Clevedon, Somerset for Rounds 9 and 10 of the 2016 Microlink ThunderCat Racing Championship on the 27th and 28th of this month. Clevedon is a new venue on the ThunderCat calendar, Paul Anslow, Clevedon Chamber of Commerce chairman is looking forward to the event; The ThunderCat racing event is the chamber of commerce’s contribution to the Clevedon 2020 effort to raise the profile of Clevedon as a destination. We have also been extremely pleased with the huge amount of collaboration throughout the project involving North Somerset Council, Clevedon School and the pier amongst others.
