Live UIM F2 streaming from Finland

There will be live streaming from Finland this weekend. To watch all the action from the first round of the 2016 UIM F2 World Championship, to be held on Lake Peurunkajarvi, Finland, British driver Matt Palfreyman has set up a YouTube channel. We first tried out the technology at the Powerboat GP race at St Helens a couple of weekends ago and we got a really positive response. Lot’s of people can’t be in Finland to watch the racing and we thought a live stream of qualifying and the race would add extra value. Palfreyman’s YouTube channel can be found here and it is best to subscribe for notifications of latest uploads. The 2015 UIM F2 Silver medallist is quietly confident of a good result to open his season’s account, I caught up with him during Round 6 of the…

Norway plans a Finnish Invasion?

F2 Team Association / Chris Davies It was something that their Viking ancestors never considered. A small army of Norwegian racers are making their way to the spa resort of Peuruka in central Finland to see if they can plunder the trophy cabinet at the opening round the 2016 UIM F2 World Championship. For some of them including the likes of Mette Brandt Bjerknaes and Tobias Munthe-Kaas it will be their chance to début brand new raceboats. Bjerknaes commented, We have just finished my second test weekend with the new Moore hull. There were some issues with the power steering but hopefully the problem is now solved. Whilst working alongside the 2015 F2 World Champion, Pierre Lundin, she has gained an incredible amount of race craft during those test sessions. We have practised a lot together in Sweden, in race…

Three F2 races were run over the weekend, with Race 2 and Race 3 being held today. Yesterday in Race 1, Austrian Rupp Temper dominated from start to finish. He didn’t do too badly today, winning Race 2 and the F2 Adac Motorbootrennen Brodenbach Event overall. In Race 3 Temper could only manage a 4th and that is where Norway’s Frode Sundsdal took his first win since his racing comeback with the fledgling EDH Racing Team. Sundsdal held off a hard charging Stefan Hagin, who hunted the Norwegian down throughout. Can Anyone Catch Lundin? UIM F2 World Championship Preview

2016 UIM F2 World Championship Preview It’s just three weeks to go before the start of the 2016 UIM F2 World Championship. Milla Sohlström and her team are quietly confident that they have everything in place as they welcome twenty six drivers to Lake Peurunkajarvi and the start of what some people are saying will be one of the most competitive F2 seasons yet. Ahead of the teams lay seven very different Grand Prix venues. From the choppy waters of Lake Lugano, it’s onto the picturesque fjord of Oksefjorden followed by the tight confines of Tonsberg in Norway. Then it’s a chance to stretch their legs down the long straights of Zarasai in Lithuania before sampling the delights of Macon in the Burgundy region of France. Ribadouro in Portugal will then play host to the season’s finale in October. Before…

Adac Motorbootrennen Brodenbach 2016 – Day One

Brodenbach,Germany acts as a warm-up event for some of the UIM F2 drivers before they enter into full blown competition in Finland next month. Three F2 races will be run over the weekend and one of those was contested today. Qualifying saw Stefan Hagin put his Molgaard on pole in his home country in front of Uvis Slakteris and Rupp Temper. In Race 1, Austrian Rupp Temper had a blistering start and pulled away from the field, closely followed by Hagin and Norwegian Frode Sundsdal who came charging from 6th position and clawed his way up to third. Sundsdal was clearly enjoying his return to F2 with his new EDH Racing Team. Uvis Slakteris, had a spin on the first corner, and was then broadsided by the French entry of Fabrice Boulier. Boulier had to retire, Slakteris was able to carry on. The tricky…

Sundsdal launches EDH Racing UIM F2 Team

It’s been nearly three years since Frode Sundsdal last competed on the international powerboat race scene, when he teamed up with Rupp Temper at the UIM F2 European Championships. Now the man from Arendal in Norway, who lives just along the coastline in Tønsberg, thinks it’s the perfect time to return to the UIM F2 World Championship with EDH Racing. Sundsdal commenting on 2016, Yes, Formula Two is going to be very tough this year. With the likes of the F1 star’s Selio and Carella racing alongside the already established F2 drivers like Lundin and Palfreyman, getting anywhere near the podium won’t be easy. So if you want to challenge yourself as a racer then this is the season to do it. Like many Scandinavian drivers Sundsdal started racing in the Junior T250 monohull class when aged fifteen. By his early…

Palfreyman aims at UIM F2 Gold

Back in the day, Great Britain boasted a plethora of successful circuit powerboat racers that competed and won on the World stage. The names ‘tripped off the tongue’, Spalding, Hill, Percival and Jones to name a few. Matt Palfreyman from Lancashire, is a ‘chip off the old block’ from those former British racers. Taking a gradual progression from racing in the junior classes, Palfreyman moved into F4 as soon as he was old enough and then started to compete in the H2o Racing backed F-4S series in 2010, winning the championship in 2011 and taking the runners up spot in 2012. Last year, he competed in the UIM F2 World Championship and took the Silver Medal. His ‘hard charging’ racing style has enthralled spectators.   I have to race like that, I never do well in qualifying and it is…
