Good work Chiappe!

Tom Chiappe led Rudolf Mihaldinecz and Wu Bingchen into the 22-lap race from lights out and the triple World Champion’s son began to pull away from his rivals and built up a useful lead as Mihaldinecz gave chase. Louise Vella began to slip down the running order as the processional race progressed and Al-Mansoori consolidated fourth position from Wu Bingchen.

International circuit racing returns to Stewartby

This weekend Stewartby Powerboat Racing club will host 3 UIM European Championships. Powerboat GP will be running international competitions for F2, F4 and GT15 classes where racers from 10 nations from across Europe are expected to make the journey to the Bedfordshire village of Stewartby. Erik Edin from Sweden has now confirmed that he will be making the trip to Britain. The young Swede had his 2016 UIM F2 World Championship hopes wiped out in Macon recently when Abu Dhabi Team driver Rashed Al Tayer shut the door on him causing Edin to roll out of contention. Boat builder Molgaard have worked flat out to repair the hull and ready it for Stewartby. Kalle Viippo class of the F4-S field

UIM F4-S – Race 4 – Portimão, Portugal Rashed Al-Qamzi started the day five-points clear of Ferdinand Zandbergen in the championship standings and he (53.81sec) and Kalle Viippo (53.15sec) were the class of the field in the opening minutes of qualifying, although Al-Mehairbi (53.97sec) moved up to third of the 10 drivers with five minute remaining. Viippo maintained his advantage into the race and headed Al-Qamzi by 5.44 seconds through lap four, as Al-Mehairbi slipped to the foot of the leader board with mechanical issues and Zandbergen moved up to third. The leading trio held station at the halfway point, with Viippo leading Al-Qamzi by 8.74 seconds and the Emirati running well clear of the pursuing Dutchman. Al-Qamzi takes a five-point outright lead in the UIM F-4S Trophy

Team Abu Dhabi’s Rashed Al-Qamzi snatched a five-point outright lead in the UIM F-4S Trophy by winning the opening race in boat 56 at the Grand Prix of Portugal, on the Arade River in Portimão, on Saturday. The Emirati led for all but one of the 20 laps to claim his second series win by 19.39 seconds from Dutch rival Ferdinand Zandbergen. Al-Qamzi trailed Kalle Viippo on the opening tour of the course, but an early yellow flag slowed the field and the Team Abu Dhabi driver snatched the lead and went on to win. Team-mate Mohammed Al-Mehairbi had flipped Team Abu Dhabi 65 on Friday afternoon and went on to finish eighth after team technicians had repaired his boat in time for the race.
