Guido Cappellini will join Frode Sundsdal tonight on the Norwegian’s weekly chat show.
Sundsdal’s popular long-form interview series has been a weekly highlight during a spring / autumn that has seen the powerboat racing calendar totally wiped out.
I’ve actually been lucky enough to watch a race this year, at the end of January I saw a round of the F4 UAE Championship being contended for in Abu Dhabi.
Also watching the racing that day at the Corniche Breakwater was Sundsdal’s guest tonight, Abu Dhabi Team Manager, Guido Cappellini.
The Italian raced in 171 F1H2o events, wining 62 races, took 70 pole positions and finished 104 times on the podium.
He won his first world championship in 1993 and his tenth and final one in 2009 after 16 seasons of racing at the highest level – A record that is highly unlikely to be bettered.
Since retiring from competition, Cappellini, has guided the Abu Dhabi to three successive F1H20 drivers titles in 2017, 2018 and 2019 and two UIM F2 World Championship wins with Rashed Al Qemzi in the cockpit.
You can catch the whole show live on Powerboat Racing World’s Facebook page at 20.00 CET (19:00 British Summer Time).
John raced Offshore UIM Class 3 in the 1980’s & 1990’s.
He served as the Cowes Torquay Cowes Event Director for 4 years, including running the 50 th Anniversary Event in 2010.
He has recently organised 4 British Offshore races under UKOPRA sanction.
He is the Editor of Powerboat Racing World.
