Buzzi unveils diesel record attempt boat

Fabio Buzzi today unveiled his ‘project boat’ at the Viareggio Bastia Viareggio – VBV Legend.

The Italian legend, boat designer, builder, racer and engineer has built a new hydroplane to raise the World diesel water speed record.

Buzzi will be attempting to break his own record of 156.76 mph set in 1992 at Moregallo in Seatek Trimax, with this all new boat and engine package.

He told me last week that virtually everything has been manufactured ‘in house’ at at his FB Design HQ in Brianza.

The engine built for Fiat Powertrain Technologies (FPT) will be rated at 1500 hp, although the maestro smiled and said the horse power could be turned up for the attempt.

Eventually the boat should see speeds of over 200 mph, all Buzzi needs now is stretch of water long enough to attempt the record.
