Boats go West in the far East

Please Share!

Imagine the Asia Powerboat Race organiser’s surprise this morning when they awoke to find half of their raceboats had gone missing from the Ma On Shan Promenade.

After the initial shock of the disappearance, the APA safety team headed west up the Shing Mun River in their RIB and incredibly found the 6 boats upstream.

Race Organiser Martin Lai was thrilled and relieved in equal measure:

The boats had dragged on their mooring anchor overnight.

Once the anchor had found a large rock under the water further down the river, the flotilla was secured again!

There will be 3 races today, although without Britain’s Matt Palfreyman who flew back to London this morning after failing to secure the necessary permissions to take part.
