Just a week before 2016 European UIM F2 Championship hopefuls compete at Stewartby in England, Paul Balfour took the opportunity of some early practice on the lake and claimed the 2016 F2 Powerboat GP British RYA Powerboat Championship in the process.
Balfour was in dominant form all weekend, only the loss of a couple of propeller blades in Sunday’s third race stopped him from winning all 3 heats of the final round of the British Championship.
3 times UIM F2 World Champion Colin Jelf used the weekend to ‘dial in’ his new Molgaard hull whilst Matt Palfreyman was hampered by engine issues various after a tough 2016 International season.
The young charger did however manage to put on his usual repertoire of crowd pleasing moves, one snapper commented to me, ‘You just can’t take your camera off that boy, he just keeps giving’.
The 2016 European UIM F2 Championship entry list is due to be published tomorrow by the organisers of the Event; Powerboat GP.
It will be interesting to see the European teams that have decided to make the trip over to Britain this week.
