Registrations for UK Offshore Racing boats intending to race this season opened over over a week ago and already there have been some interesting ‘sign ups’.
The United Kingdom Offshore Powerboat Racing Association (UKOPRA) have been posting newly registered Marathon and Class 3 racing boats on their website.
Today, a boat not seen on British waters since 2013 appeared under the Marathon Class B listings – Warpath.
The Ilmor powered hull built by Chief Powerboats and Bob Saccenti last competed in the Cowes Torquay Cowes race some 5 years ago and has been in the US ever since.
Warpath registrar Ole Finholt told UKOPRA:
We have a deadline day of March 24th to ship the boat to England from Florida.
If we get her there by then, I guess we’re on.
She’s been ‘Trailer Queening’ since the SBI race at Michigan City last year and there is a lot of work to do!
