The Norges Motorsportforbund (NMF) held their annual dinner and prize giving event at the recently opened Quality Hotel in Drammen last night, with the marine motor sport prizes being awarded by the Norges Båtsportforbund.
19 year old Theodor Liseth, who made her debut in the UIM Aquabike Ski Junior GP3.3 discipline, was awarded with the Breakthrough of the year trophy.
Erik Sundblad Johansen, who won the 2019 UIM Class 3C World Championship was handed the ‘Role model of the year’ prize, while another Norwegian world champion, 15 year old Andrè Faye Solvang, was acknowledged with the racer of the year trophy for his GT30 win in Kotka,Finland.
The audience in Drammen determined that the Organiser of the year award would to go someone that loves an audience – Frode Sundsdal accepted the trophy on behalf of the organising team (above) of the Tønsberg Båtrace, the annual race that has hosted a round of the UIM F2 World Championship since 2014.
John raced Offshore UIM Class 3 in the 1980’s & 1990’s.
He served as the Cowes Torquay Cowes Event Director for 4 years, including running the 50 th Anniversary Event in 2010.
He has recently organised 4 British Offshore races under UKOPRA sanction.
