Guernsey teams travel North for Lake records

Three teams from Guernsey are heading North to the Lake District this weekend with the aim of securing speed records. Paul Etasse and Chris Stonebridge will be towing their Phantom 19 Gr – ‘Slayer’ up the M6 in pursuit of a UIM Class 3A World Record. Etasse and Stonebridge, who won UIM Silver Medals in Norway earlier this year are confident their preparation is enough. John Richardson and Sophie Le Prevost will be looking to establish a new record in Club Class 1 in their Phantom. Easy Emily is fast although the third team from Guernsey, Emily and Hugh Donnelly’s 21′ Argo cat could be faster. The Yellow Argo is no stranger to the Lakes and record setting. I can’t be in Coniston this year but will follow through >> www.conistonpowerboatrecords.co.uk Good luck to the Guernsey teams! Hollie x

The Dirty Dozen close the Guernsey Offshore season

12 boats competed in the final 2 heats of the 2016 Guernsey Stanley Gibbons Investment Series, last weekend. Saturday 2016 UIM Class 3A Silver Medalists, Paul Etasse and Chris Stonebridge impressed again, with a second overall in calm seas. Only the Ocke Mannerfelt V24 of Martyn Roberts and Tim Abbott could beat them. Etasse and Stonebridge racing in the popular Club Class 3 showed the way home to Gareth and Matt Keast in ‘The Governor’ who battled furiously with Chris Bates and Jon Le Page in ‘Bad Influence’ throughout. In 4th place were the visiting team from Jersey, Scott ‘Chaka’ Walker and George Carter in Bellona. After a very unlucky year, the team’s determination, hard work and confidence paid off with a worthy finish. Sue Cosgrave and Quentin Petit in ‘Dirty Deeds’ placed 5th, this was the first event for Sue, (My Mum)!  as an…

Guernsey Stanley Gibbons Investment Series continues to excite

The fourth and penultimate race weekend of the Stanley Gibbons Investment Series got underway with twelve teams taking part in less than desirable conditions caused by winds reaching force 4-5. Saturday V24 V8 Diablo Racing, Dave Corbet and Kerry Le Patourel stormed to victory, completing each lap of the Havelet course in an average of just 3.5 minutes. V3 It Wasn’t Us, (Martyn Roberts and Tim Abbott), followed Corbet’s Ocke Mannerfelt transom around the course and are now guaranteed top spot in the V24 Class Championship for 2016 having scored a total of 90 points so far with no chance of being caught before the end of the season. Club Class 2 Jai Rive and Kirsty Savident in Grey Sea battled against Pierre Petit and stand in navigator Paul Etasse in Kalypso. Etasse, a UIM Silver Medal winner in Norway, took…

The 5th and penultimate Event of the 2016 Guernsey Stanley Gibbons Investment Series is set to take place this weekend with 15 teams signed up to tackle the challenging Havelet course. Guernsey racers, officials and friends have now recovered from their recent trip to Cowes! Steve Lowe, Paul Mahy, Colin Le Conte and myself helped the British Powerboat Racing Club (BPRC) officiate one of the roughest races ever run in the Event’s 56 year history, whilst our Guernsey competitors competed on the challenging waters in fine style with wins in RYA National V24 and Class 3B. V24 Looking forward to this weekend we have three V24’s set to cross the line – V3 It Wasn’t Us, V8 Diablo Racing and V59 Dirty Harry. The Atlee team dominate the Guernsey RYA National Event

2016 Guernsey Powerboat Association Stanley Gibbons Investment Race series As the majority of UK racers continue their resistance against the Royal Yachting Association (RYA), the national governing body, the Guernsey Powerboat Association (GPA) and its members got on with what they do best and put on another spectacular show of competitive powerboat racing last weekend. Spectators lined the Castle walk and La Vallette viewing areas which engulf Havelet Bay to welcome 18 teams competing in National and Club class racing. Force 2 – 3 winds over the weekend which saw just a low swell out at Lower Heads proved ideal for National class offshore racing. Saturday As the boats entered Havelet Bay for the first time, as expected, the V24 ‘Diablo Racing’ (Dave Corbet / Kerry Le Patourel) stretched out a huge lead on its first appearance this season, powered by…
