Any bets on Davie Finlayson?

John Moore on 22nd May 2017

Celtic F.C. who went unbeaten and won the the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership title this season had their trophy chauffeured by P1 and ThunderCat racer Davie Finlayson.

The trophy was onboard a P1 Panther hull which is also sponsored by Ladbrokes. It made the short trip up the River Clyde and delivered it to Celtic Park, before it made the final leg of the trip by land.

Among those on board were Celtic FC ambassador Tom Boyd, the last player to captain the club to a domestic treble, and Jim Craig, who was part of the Celtic team that defeated Inter Milan to become the first British team to win the European Cup.

The P1 Panther powerboat driven by Finlayson, who will be flying the flag for Scotland in the ‘Spirit of Inverclyde’ boat at next month’s P1 Scottish Grand Prix of the Sea in Greenock.

David MacDonald, Media and Sponsorship, Ladbrokes, said;

Season 2016/17 has been a remarkable year for Celtic and so Ladbrokes felt it merited a remarkable event to mark their achievements.
Trophy presentation day is all about celebration and excitement and what better way to start the day than having club legends deliver the Ladbrokes Premiership trophy via the historic River Clyde route in the club’s home city to Celtic Park. We hope Celtic supporters enjoy their day and congratulate all at the Club on being Ladbrokes Premiership Champions 2016/17!

Robert Wicks, Powerboat P1 Managing Director, added;

We were thrilled to work with Ladbrokes, the SPFL and Celtic to enhance their Ladbrokes Premiership trophy day celebrations. The Ladbrokes Premiership powerboat looked spectacular – it is definitely one of the most thrilling journeys P1 has been involved in.
The event was also useful practice for Dave ahead of next month’s Scottish Grand Prix of the Sea and we hope it has helped generate even more interest in our free-to-attend event which will have many more powerboats racing at high speed and lots more entertainment too.
