Eva Petersson – A very brave Swedish Champion

Last weekend Eva Petersson was crowned – UIM 2016 Class 3A European Champion. Eva from Kungshamn in Sweden sat in the navigator’s seat and steered Johan Torsell around the two race UIM European Championship with pin point accuracy. To win an International Championship is impressive – To win with an ongoing fight against cancer is truly remarkable. Eva told me today; Just after New Year I found a lump in my left breast, after many tests were done, I was diagnosed with cancer. Just after Easter I underwent an operation and then had chemotherapy. From the very beginning I told myself, my family and friends that I will be fine. There was no other option! To fight cancer with an operation and subsequent chemotherapy is extremely tough, sitting in the back of a Class 3A mono takes some guts, how did…

Östhammars GP against Cancer

The Nordic Offshore season draws to a conclusion at Östhammars this weekend. The event will also be raising money for Cancer Research. Pernilla Ingvarsson who will be the Östhammars OOD told me; Last year was the first time we held this race. It brings money to the Pink Ribbon campaign for breast cancer but also other foundations that fund research against the disease. The amount that we gathered last year was almost 100,000 SEK, which was more than we could have dreamed of. The race was as simple as possible and very close to Offshore Circuit Racing. Most Swedish offshore racers had never made so many turns in a race before! A round of the Nordic Super Series for Offshore calass 3C will be competed for along with V60, V150, 3A and 3B. When we started the planning for this race we had expectations of around 50 boats. Right now we have…
