6 teams can win the XCAT World Championship this weekend

John Moore on 27th November 2017

6 teams still have the 2017 UIM XCAT World Championship in their grasp and the final 2 rounds in Dubai will decide the winner this weekend.

Team Australia’s Brett Luhrmann and Pål Virik Nilsen go into the event to be held off the Palm Jumeirah as favourites with 148 points, with the Victory Team’s Salem al Adidi and Eisa al Ali just 11 points behind them.

Abu Dhabi Team hold third place in the Championship with 116, Rashed al Tayer and Majeed al Masoori will certainly have the pressure on in the UAE. Rashed Al Qemzi has already won the UIM F2 World Championship, while Alex Carella could hand the team a ‘formula double’ next month in the F1H2o series.

Still in with a mathematical chance are Giovanni Carpitella and Joakim Kumlin (222 Offshore), Erik Stark and Mikael Bengtsson (Swecat), and 2016 champions Arif al Zaffein and Nadir bin Hendi.

The first free practice session is on Thursday, with both races due to start at 10.30 GMT on Friday and Saturday.
