Rounds 11 and 12 of the Microlink ThunderCat Championship will be held this weekend at Catalan Bay in Gibraltar and the event could decide the 2016 title winners.
Microlink-Ahmad Tea from Wales, Rob Davies and Darren Phillips, hold a slender 10 point lead over Multispark Racing 61, Gary Tolman and Scott Brown, in the Team Championship.
Martin Tummuscheit who looks after the Microlink-Ahmad Tea team has turned 2015 rookies Davies and Phillips into 2016 Championship leaders;
We need to stay focused and keep our consistency. It’s certainly going to be interesting!
Multispark Racing Team Manager Dave Sheldon told me today;
Even though we are behind in points, Gary has good experience of racing here, he was very competitive in 2014 where he came third in the European Championship held just up the beach from Catalan Bay.
It really is all to play for!
The weather could certainly play a part in the proceedings, Gibraltar has been experiencing strong winds over the last few days and although those are expected to drop tomorrow, Sunday could see their return.
Racing will commence at midday on both this Saturday and Sunday, (15th and 16th October).
The Event has been supported by Visit Gibraltar, Gibraltar Tourist Board, Gibraltar Port Authority, Clan Fuel and Team Britannia.
