Six championship classes will be in action at the Powerboat GP Chasewater Grand Prix this weekend.

However, the F2 teams will be competing in match racing due to a shortage in entries with current Championship leader Colin Jelf recovering from injury following an accident at the World F4 Championships the required number of teams to count as a national championship round was not met.

There were strong performances from the British drivers at the second event of the UIM F4 World Championship held at Stewartby, Bedford two weeks ago.

The Ben’s, Morse and Jelf were on the pace at international level and will be taking that form into the British Championship.

Ethan Goodfellow will be looking to make an impact in the junior GT15 class as he looks to catch the championship leader Harvey Smith, he has finished fourth at both of the previous rounds.

The battle between Smith and George Elmore has been intense so far this season, with both fighting to claim their first British Championship title.

Goodfellow’s older sister Tiegen, will be competing in the GT30 class as one of the few female powerboat racers in the UK.

Tiegen is currently sat in third in the British Championship behind championship leader Thomas Mantripp and Jack Pickles.

Mantripp has won 4 out of 6 races so far this season and with a recent bronze medal at the European championships two weeks ago will be in high confidence heading into the weekend.

The on water action will commence at 10.30 on both Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th July.
