The Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM), founded in 1922, is the world governing body
for Powerboating, fully recognized as such by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The UIM governs all Powerboating disciplines and acknowledges that every activity conducted on
water can make a difference in the fight against climate change.

The UIM is committed to promoting environmentally friendly practices which we hope will help to contribute towards solving some of the environmental challenges of today particularly those involving the decline in biodiversity to the unsustainable use of energy resources.

In order to inspire and recognize excellence in innovation, development and application of environmentally friendly technologies the UIM is delighted to present the “2017 UIM Environmental Award” and the “2017 UIM Environmental Award Special Mentions”.

UIM Member Federations, racing teams, boat builders, engine manufacturers,universities, research centers, scientists, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s), event organizers, companies and individuals are all eligible for the 2017 UIM Environmental Award and Special Mentions. This award recognizes outstanding environmental leaders, whether individuals or organizations that have excelled in inspiration, vision, innovation, leadership and initiatives to the benefit of the Environment.

The Awards can be won through positive and proven actions and efforts favoring the protection
of the environment which result in a reduction of the environmental footprint in all types
of motorboating activities.

The 2017 UIM Environmental Award Trophy and the 2017 UIM Special Mention Trophies will
be presented at the UIM Awards Giving Ceremony and Gala.
