Palfreyman’s UIM F2 Tvedestrand hopes hindered after Race Director’s decision

Britain’s Matt Palfreyman travelled to Tvedestrand, Norway with high hopes of gaining at least a podium position.

After a stunning drive in Round 2, racing a BaBa hull he had driven for the first time just a few days earlier, Palfreyman challenged reigning UIM F2 World Champion Pierre Lundin for the lead and only settled for second after a mid-race coming together with a back marker.

Today, the aggressive Brit was putting in some very impressive lap times and when he went into to Q3, was very confident.

That was until he received the news through his radio man that Swedish Race Director Pelle Larson had adjudged that Palfreyman had entered the qualifying course incorrectly and had incurred a disqualification from Q3.

Palfreyman radioed back and said that he wanted to set lap times under protest, Larson’s reply was firm, he was not to and to leave the course.

After a protest against the decision was lodged by Palfreyman, the Race Jury met and found against him.

An extremely disappointed Matt Palfreyman will start from tenth on the Tvedestrand UIM F2 grid at 18.00 CET tomorrow evening which should be ‘appointment viewing’.
