John Ryan with his crew of Philip Fitzgibbon, Sean McNamara and Denis Dillon have shattered the Round Ireland powerboat record with a time of 12 hours 54 minutes and 24 seconds.
This beats the existing 2009 record set by one of Team Hibernia’s crew members, Philip Fitzgibbon by over 5 and a half hours.
The Wayne Kruse designed mono hull used for the record breaking run was powered by twin FPT N67 engines.
The motors were developed by Fabio Buzzi and Fiat Powertrain Technologies and adds another impressive endurance run to sit along side Buzzi’s 2012 New York to Bermuda record.
Next up on Team Hibernia’s ‘to do’ list is the Cowes Torquay Cowes race on September 4th, which should give the team plenty of time to recover from their celebrations!
