The first offshore race of the year in Sweden took place this weekend in Öregrund.

At the same time, it was the Swedish National cup in ThunderCat P750.

8 P750 boats competed in a circuit race and then raced with the other boats in the ‘main race’ or LongHaul as they like to call it.

Not surprisingly it was Kjell Johansson and Filippa Ring that took the win in all of the three heats.

During the main race, we had boats from many classes racing, 14 in total with a couple of ThunderCats competing together for overall victory.

The ÖRK Open have a special handicap system calculated on the last race of the previous season. You raced 7 laps and the first one to finish the race won.

The ThunderCats and smaller boats started first and then the bigger and faster ones.

The handicap system is not bulletproof but gives you an interesting and fun race to watch for the spectators.

It´s also a relaxed and good way to start of the season since there is none SM status on the race.

Many new boats was out there racing.

A handful of B-catamarans trying out the new Mercury 115 Pro Xs 4-Stroke with good results.

They all agreed on that the new engine is a ‘beast’!

The conditions was quite good, some wind on the morning but it calmed down just before the race but we still had some old swell in the outer part of the course.

It was a tight and fun course with some challenging turns.

Kjell and Filippa won the main race as well just before Gustaf Lindén and Malin Lange in their Twister 20.

A total of 19 boats were racing during the weekend and it all ended with a price ceremony and a dinner.
